Pixar Short: ‘La Luna’ Sneak Peek + New Image

La Luna is the upcoming Academy Award nominated short film from Pixar, which is set to play before Brave when it’s theatrically released on June 22nd, 2012. Pixar and Walt Disney Pictures have released a new high resolution still as well as a first look at the film in a 30 second scene.

The film is directed by Enrico Casarosa which will be his first turn in the directors seat. What a debut for a director as the short is nominated for an Osar at this years 84th Annual Academy Awards which is set to be televised on February 26th.

  • Enrico Casarosa was a storyboard artist on Up, Ratatouille and Ice Age
  • Enrico worked for Blue Sky Studios (Ice Age) before moving to Pixar in 2002
  • Production took roughly nine months to finish
  • Enrico finished La Luna to work as Head of Story on Pixar’s Untitled Movie About Dinosaurs
  • It has been nearly 10 years since a Pixar short has won an Oscar, the last was For the Birds
